  1. Chronic condition in which the blood supply
  2. to the extremities is reduced by periodic
  3. spasm of the blood vessels on exposure to
  4. cold. It is most often seen in young women.
  5. Attacks are usually brought on by cold or by
  6. emotional factors. Typically, the hands
  7. and/or feet take on a corpselike pallor,
  8. changing to blue as the circulation begins to
  9. return; initial numbness is replaced by a
  10. tingling or burning sensation. Drugs may be
  11. necessary to control the condition,
  12. particularly in severe cases where there is
  13. risk of gangrene.
